Renesas, in collaboration with IBEOS, is developing the KU060 Power Solution Evaluation Board (KPSEB)
Powering up electronic systems, in general, but mainly in space environments, is a big issue and the main point on the schedule of a space system designer. This takes a lot of time and effort in the design flow.
FPGAs are for sure one of the most critical components to power up a space environment, so Renesas, in collaboration with IBEOS, is developing the KU060 Power Solution Evaluation Board (KPSEB) to provide customers with a fully validated rad-hard power solution they can use in their designs, reducing development time.
The 20 nm Kintex UltraScale XQRKU060 is the latest and one of the most powerful Xilinx’s FPGA for space applications.
The KPSEB is a fully radiation hardened power solution, all power management devices are DLA qualified with MIL PRF 38535 manufacturing, the evaluation board has the KU060 FPGA footprint compatibility with the spaceflight part and the military temp. Part.
Peripheral support circuitry includes:
- 64-bit wide DDR3
- 256 Mbit NOR flash
- RS 485 interface
- JTAG programming interface
- Ethernet interface via an RJ45 connector
The following Table 1 summarizes the Renesas Intersil part numbers with description, which XQRKU060 rails it is supporting and IC’s maximum current capability
The board will be available later in the summer of 2020.
