Multi-Channel ARINC Interface Embedded In-Line (NLINE) The Cable Assembly
Alta Data Technologies (Alta) has released an innovative Ethernet ARINC-429 product built directly in line with two small, rugged cable assemblies: NLINE-EA429 and NLINE-UA429. In a nutshell, this product connects ARINC devices to notebooks, desktops, and servers via 10/100/1000 Ethernet. In addition to 4 or 8 channels of RX/TX message controls, NLINE-EA429 can generate or capture (o-scope) raw bus signals for protocol and electrical troubleshooting, and cybersecurity modeling. As a result, the product is ideal for both lab and deployed applications, and is available for immediate delivery.
The announcements
“The NLINE-EA429 product provides the latest interconnect technology for ARINC busses, but not our last! This week we also released a USB SuperSpeed version in the same small, rugged, in-line assembly: NLINE-UA429. Along with the widest selection of ARINC interface boards, the customer now has ultimate choices for ARINC connections. All products are accompanied by the AltaAPI SDK, and AltaView Windows analyzer. In this way, they provide customers with quick integration for their applications. For most existing applications, they can use the NLINE-EA429 product with little or no code changes”. (Harry Wild, Vice President of Sales for Alta).
“This new NLINE-EA429 product provides real-time ARINC-Ethernet conversion for incredible system design options; it can even auto convert (bridge) ARINC-429 RX label groups to Ethernet without any programming. Our team did an amazing amount of R&D to develop new packaging techniques to embed our ARINC design directly into MIL-qualified cable assemblies. Now customers can just connect up and go. Upon releasing our Thunderbolt™ appliance, TBOLT™, that provides PCI Express backplane performance for ARINC and 1553 connections, we tested USB 3.0 SuperSpeed and were pleased with the dynamic throughput rates available for most ARINC applications. Our interface cards, ENET Ethernet converters, and Thunderbolt products provide the highest performance, and the USB-MA4 and NLINE-UA429 products provide customers the convenience of USB without having to perform a slow ‘Program then Run Sequence’ typical of USB 2.0 products.” (Jake Haddock, Alta CTO)
More on ARINC Ethernet converter products
Almost every avionics or communication system implements an Ethernet topology. But most ARINC Ethernet converter products are processor/Linux based with unsecure IP network stacks that greatly slow down Ethernet communications. ENET and NLINE designs are FPGA hardware-based UDP thin servers that provide real-time Ethernet/ARINC bridging/conversion. By reducing threats of viruses or internal hacking, these products provide all the advanced controls. Simultaneously, they can auto bridge time-stamped UDP packets without any programming. There is also a fast auto-boot feature. Additionally, standard socket communication can manage RX/TX controls, as implemented in almost every OS, even DO-178 compliant systems.
