The HFC200-W/O and W/G DC/DC converters for wall mounting offer an ultra-wide input voltage range from 14.4 V to 154 V with 200 Watt power. A single converter thus covers all international on-board voltages for rail vehicles (24V, 36V, 72V and 110V). It also includes the tolerance range of +/- 40% required by EN 50155 in one device. Therefore, this ultra-wide solution is ideal for companies operating throughout Europe to carry out qualifications of assemblies cost-efficiently with a single converter.
EN 50155 regarding temperature, shock, vibration, and damp heat as well as the railway-specific criteria for EMC according to EN50121-3-2 are met without additional components. The converter has an integrated power failure bypass of 10 ms which makes the DC/DC converter unique. Due to the high efficiency of up to 91 %, depending on the applied voltage, the 200 W output power is available over the complete temperature range from -40 to +85°C according to class OT4 ST 1, without any derating.
Overvoltage and overtemperature protection facilitates the design-in of the flyback converter. The converters are no-load and short-circuit proof. It is mounted directly on the chassis for easy heat dissipation. In fact, the open frame needs three small pads on the bottom. The housing is designed to IP 20. This makes the Conformal Coating converter ideal for railway technology and power-hungry applications in harsh environments (e.g. industrial trucks). The insulation strength of 2,2 KV between I/O is particularly noteworthy.
The selection of PCB material was fire tested according to EN45545-2 R25 and HL 3.
The lightweight plug-and-play solutions are available as versions with a single output of 12 v or 24 V.
