HFBC80-W/Ks is the new DC/DC converter in the familiar compact housing. In short, it offers an ultra-wide input voltage range from 14.4 V to 154 V with 80 Watt power now. This is a 33% power increase compared to the previous version. As a consequence, a single converter thus covers all internal on-board voltages for railway (24 V, 36 V, 72 V and 110 V), including the tolerance range of +/- 40 % required by EN 50155, in a single device. This ultra-wide solution is therefore ideal for companies operating worldwide to perform the qualification of their own applications cost-efficiently with one converter.
Key Features
The EN 50155 regarding temperature, shock, vibration, as well as the railroad specific criteria for EMC according to EN50121-3-2, as well as Surge, Burst and ESD are completely complied without any additional components. In addition, the converter has an integrated hold up time of 10 ms (class S2), which makes the compact converter (113 x 46 x 35 mm) unique, designed according to temperature class OT4, ST1+2 (-40…85 °C). Very high efficiency (up to 92%) is achieved by combining booster and active clamp at the optimized operating point.
An inrush current limitation, overvoltage and overtemperature protection and an active reverse polarity protection are integrated as standard. In addition, the converter is open-circuit protected and permanently short-circuit proof. The modules can be connected in parallel and the output voltage can be trimmed.
The fire and smoke requirement according to EN 45545-2 (Hazard Level 3, R24/R25) is met.
Availability
Currently the Autronic‘s DC/DC converter is available with an output voltage of 12 V and 24 V, further outputs are available on request.
